Motion is an interactive generative audiovisual installation developed for the Quartier des Spectacles as part of a research and development initiative conducted in partnership with Panasonic to explore the use of experimental 240 FPS projection technology in outdoor public spaces.
Selected as one of three artist-developers invited to investigate the creative potential of this emerging technology, I created one of the three interactive works presented. The piece consists of a layered generative visual material whose forms and behaviours can be altered in real time by passers-by through the movement of a tracked baton interface.
Conceived as a two-minute generative loop, Motion functions as a form of public visual poetry in which movement becomes a tool for collective composition, allowing visitors to temporarily shape and influence the evolving visual landscape.
Alongside the artistic development, I coordinated an indoor technical validation phase with the Quartier des Spectacles team to test projection conditions, tracking systems, and rendering performance using Panasonic's high-frame-rate projectors prior to public deployment.
The installation was presented nightly for one month at Place des Festivals in Montreal's Quartier des Spectacles.
